A meeting of mid-century design, omakase, and Gyotaku.
At Akiko’s, The Imprint Experience unfolded within a striking mid-century space inspired by the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, creating a distinctive architectural backdrop for the experience. The setting became part of the story itself, its lines, textures, and sense of place complementing the quiet craft of Gyotaku and the progression of the meal.
In an additional collaboration with Fifth Taste Sake, the evening brought together omakase, sake, art, and design in a seamless sensory experience. Alongside the signature octopus print, the chefs brought out additional fish from the menu to be printed throughout the evening, allowing the artwork to evolve in direct dialogue with the cuisine.
Each impression offered a different expression of the fish being served, creating a visual record of the meal as it unfolded. The result was an experience shaped by collaboration - between chef and artist, ingredient and impression, architecture and atmosphere.
