A Tradition, Reimagined
The centuries-old Japanese tradition of Gyotaku, brought to life through thoughtfully curated experiences.
The Omakase Experience
An evening where art and cuisine share the same story.
The Imprint Experience’s flagship concept is an elevated private exhibition created in dialogue with an omakase menu. Surrounded by completed Gyotaku works inspired by the fish and ingredients being served, guests experience the meal through both taste and visual expression.
Throughout the evening, artist Jacelyn Rene creates live Gyotaku alongside the progression of the menu, offering an intimate look at the tradition as it unfolds. Guests may simply settle in and observe, or step into the process themselves, making the experience as interactive - or as quietly immersive - as they desire.
Each guest leaves with an original Gyotaku print created during the evening: a singular impression of the meal, the fish, and the experience itself. A keepsake made to carry the evening forward long after the last course.
Workshop Experience
A closer look at the art of Gyotaku.
Designed for those who want to experience the process firsthand, The Workshop Experience invites guests to create their own original Gyotaku print under the guidance of artist Jacelyn Rene.
Set within a relaxed, intimate environment, guests are introduced to the materials, techniques, and traditions behind the art before working directly with their own fish to create a one-of-a-kind impression.
Less structured than the Omakase Experience and centered around participation, the workshop offers a more personal exploration of Gyotaku - an opportunity to slow down, get your hands involved, and leave with an original work of art created by you.
Private Experience
Make the occasion your own.
Bring The Imprint Experience into your next gathering through a private Gyotaku experience designed around the character of your event.
An unexpected addition to sushi dinners, birthday celebrations, private dinners, corporate gatherings, team-building events, client entertaining, brand activations, weddings, rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, and milestone celebrations, the experience can be tailored to complement the setting, menu, and occasion.
Jacelyn Rene guides guests through the traditional art of Gyotaku, creating an opportunity to observe, participate, and connect through the process of making. Guests may create their own prints, enjoy a live demonstration, or incorporate Gyotaku into the evening as an artistic feature.
Whether intimate or celebratory, each gathering becomes an opportunity to create something together—and leave with an original impression of the occasion.
Bluefin Tuna Carving
A keepsake from the moment of the cut.
An artful addition to a traditional tuna carving ceremony, The Imprint Experience captures the bluefin at the moment it is prepared and shared.
Using the tuna’s tail, Jacelyn Rene creates an original Gyotaku impression for guests to take home - a lasting record of the fish they watched being broken down and enjoyed throughout the evening.
A simple, tangible connection between the experience and the source: a keepsake from a remarkable fish, made in the moment.
